Networking

Who you know is as important as what you know

As the old saying goes, “It’s not just what you know, but who you know.” Those who have strong connections both personally and professionally may see their careers develop more quickly than someone who does not.

Rockwell Collins offers several formal programs to help employees build connections. In addition to relationships built through mentoring, all employees around the globe are invited to join one or more Communities of Practice (CoP). These CoPs help link employees so they can share knowledge around a specific topic, as well as networking with peers, studying best practices and telling stories about their work experiences. CoPs are led by employee volunteers who have an area of expertise, passion for their craft and desire to share what they know and learn. Our 70 current communities range from Future Airspace Applications & Technologies and New Employees, to Quality Engineering and The Green Workplace, to name a few.

Employee networks provide another option for networking with fellow employees by linking people of similar backgrounds and interests. By participating in these networks, people gain access to knowledgeable employees who have experience in our corporate culture, as well as knowing where to go for resources and support. Led by employee volunteers, group membership is open to all Rockwell Collins employees.

Currently, we have seven active networks: African Americans of Rockwell Collins, Disability Network Group and Supporters, Friends of Asia, Latino Employee Network, New Hire Employee Network, Pride Employee Network and Women’s Employee Network.
